Start Here — Orientation & Confidence
You’ll learn how to power on the headset, get comfortable with the basics, and lead your first demo confidently—even if you’ve never used VR before. This section helps you overcome that first-time hesitation by breaking down what to do, what to say, and what to avoid.
What is this headset and what will I do first?
The Meta Quest 3 is a standalone headset—no computer or cables needed.
- Power On: Press and hold the left-side power button until a white light appears.
- Fit the Head Strap: Press the back button to extend or shorten, then turn the rear dial to tighten. For glasses users, expand first, fit over glasses, then tighten.
- Adjust Volume: Use the rocker under the visor on the right underside.
- Launch Menu: Right palm up and pinch the Meta (∞) symbol to open the Universal Menu. From there, select Library to see available apps.
What is the initial setup?
- Use hand tracking as your default. Pinch with your thumb and index finger to click. Keep controllers close, but only use them for tiny buttons.
- Choose Career Fair Mode in Settings for a streamlined experience, or DEMO Mode if you want to show extra videos during quiet periods.
- Always ensure Play 2D Video is set to OFF.
- Recenter before each visitor: face the front and hold the Meta symbol until the screen resets.
- Keep the headset clean, comfortable, and adjust the volume according to the environment.
- Pro Tip: Have a calm introduction ready—“Want to try a two-minute VR tour? It’s hands-free and easy to use.”
How to have a successful first demo?
- Turn on the headset and adjust the fit and volume.
- Open the App: Right palm up → Meta symbol → Library → BeThere Immersive 360.
- If missing, go to Library → Unknown Sources → BeThere Immersive 360.

- Recenter: Hold the Meta symbol (hands) or Meta button (controller).
- Start the Demo: Hover over Go and pinch to begin.
- Reset: After the video, left palm up → Exit Video → Wipe face pad → Recenter → Return to “Go” screen.

- You keep Career Fair Mode on during high traffic and switch to Demo Mode only when lines are short.
- You clean between every guest and maintain a calm, friendly tone.
- You collect at least one follow-up (QR scan or sign-up) per hour.
